MLB Post Season Report Part 4

Overzealous Umpires are already ruining the 2010 Post Season. Already 2 managers have been thrown out of games, Ron Gardenhire Game 1 Yankees/Twins and Bobby Cox Game 2 Giants/Braves for minor infractions. The Umpires should not be so quick in throwing out Managers in these crucial games. Especially in the Bobby Cox case. The Umps blew a call in Game 1 and he may have been blowing off some steam regarding it in Game 2. For certain the Umps most have seen the replay and know they goofed. In other major sports officials are known to recognize their mistakes and give leeway towards the victimized team.

John Henry to buy Liverpool Soccer Team

I'm do not know much about soccer/football, but if John Henry wants to buy your team that's a good thing..Since 2003 the man has rebuilt Fenway, is improving the area around Fenway Park and lets not forget WON 2 WORLD SERIES TITLES!!
Apparently a group, New England Sports Ventures, led buy John Henry has put in a bid to buy the Liverpool Football Club for $477 million. Apparently Tom Hicks and the other current owner (who have lost the rights to the team) are attempting to block the purchase stateing the tem is worth $900 million.

Aces that have pitched like Aces so far.

Roy Halliday-No Hitter

CC Sabathia-Unfortunately came through as usual..On the road to boot, how due the Twins expect to beat him at the non-traditional New Yankee Stadium.

Tim Lincicum-Beat the Braves 1-0.

Derek Lowe-Not necessarily an Ace, although he was a 2004 Post Season Hero, he pitched like one losing to SF 1-0.

Andy Petit- Not an Ace, but pitched very well, when will he get old..

MLB 2010 Post Season Part 2

After watching his AL East Conterparts, the NY Yankees, Boston Red Sox and even the Tampa Bay Rays, make the Post Season on a regular basis one of baseballs best pitchers, Roy Halliday, finally gets his chance today. In a year where he accepted a trade to the Phillies, signed an extension to remain with a contender, threw a Perfect Game and most likely will win his 2nd Cy Young Award Roy Halliday will finally be able to show the world why he has been one of the best for nearly a decade.

MLB Post Season Report Part 1

An example of how greed gives an ugly face to Americas Past Time:
The Ballpark in Arlington (home of the Texas Rangers) has offices/stores that offer a view of the ballpark/game. MLB, not the Texas Rangers, are in charge of Post Season Ticketing and have decided the tenants of these offices/stores will be charged per guest. They figure if you are going to watch the game you should pay like everybody else, even though the leases state the offices/stores are not part of the ballpark.

MLB Should be ASHAMED!!

Cold and down pouring at Fenway Park Friday Night October 1, 2010. Why were the Red Sox so inclined to get the game in and not have a double header on Saturday vs the Yankees? Because MLB had a 4:10 PM game on FOX..On a Saturday that is Prime time for ratings. There was no way FOX would allow the game to be moved to 1:00PM to accommodate a double header. Instead Game 1 started as scheduled at 4:10 PM and Game 2 was scheduled for 9:10PM.. Guess what, Game 1 turned out to be a typically long Red Sox Yankee Game ending at approximately 8:38PM...Good luck emptying out Fenway Park and getting the new crowd in on time...Nice going greedy executives in the Front Offices of MLB and FOX TV!!

A "spinoff" of the Honeymooners the Flintstones were a groundbreaking cartoon. Originally airing on primetime it was so well done that it was enjoyed by children and adults.

The Munsters Remake

I always love a remake, or the idea of a remake..Now NBC has me excited with talk of asking for a pilot with a possibility of a full on series..Word is the Munsters remake will be a cross between Modern Family and True Blood.. Good luck, this is going to be tough. The original was clever nowadays TV shows are crude and offensive.

American Idol just made the offical announcement that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are the new judges. Steven Tyler is a musical Icon. Hits range from the 1970'S Dream On, Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, the 1980's Angel, Rag Doll, Love in the Elevator, What it Takes, the 1990's Living on the Edge, Cryin', and the 2000's Pink, Love is Hard On the Knees and I Don't Want to Miss a Thing. As far as J-LO goes I don't think anybody has been such a success with a consecutive list of mediocrity ranging from movies like The Money Train,Seilina and Jersey Girl to music with Jenny from the Block to a non existent cosmetic line..

George Steinbrenner was not a great owner!

No disrespect for the recently departed, BUT George Steinbrenner was not the  great owner. After purchasing the team in 1973 he spent lots of money on the newly established Free Agency market and won or as some might say bought championships. In the 1980's the NY Yankees were not a threat in the American League East. George Steinbrenner often grew impatient and showed his lack of knowledge for baseball by giving up promising prospects for the Jesse Barfields and Ken Phelps's of the world. He insisted on being the BIG NAME and often fought with his managers and star players.

Any "intelligent" Yankee fan knows that July 30, 1990, the day George Steinbrenner was suspended from day to day baseball operations, was a turning point in franchise history.

This led to Gene Michaels and Buck Showalter teaming up to build a minor league system that developed and refused to trade the talents of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Bernie Williams.

When George Steinbrenner was reinstated in 1993 Gene Michaels was able to keep this talented core of players from being traded for the quick fixes of yesteryear. And after a strike shortened season, where the Yankees were on pace to make the Post Season for the first time since 1981, they reached that goal in 1995.

A Dynasty was born.. Too much credit and thanks were given to Mr. Steinbrenner though..Not enough given to Gene Michaels and Buck Showalter, the true architects of the  latest Yankee Dynasty.

Lady Gaga - WWE Entertainment

Is it me or does it take away from a performance when what is perceived as real/authentic turns out to be anything but?
As a kid deep down I knew professional wrestling was fake but when WWE owner Vince McMahon made that announcement wrestling was never the same to me. This leads to mega-star Lady GaGa, and if anyone is on the bubble on whether or not she lip syncs during live performances this video will certainly burst that bubble. "Highlights" include "c'mon" at 1 minute 27 seconds the squatting dance routine at 1 minute 48 seconds through the 2 minute mark (as well as any time she does the squatting dance routine), and the 2 minute 16 second mark where she clearly gives up her live charade. I'm sure her fans (the Little Monsters as she lovingly refers to them as) will defend her by saying due to all the dancing she has to lip sync. They will also most likely throw the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears etc under the bus. Having been to hundreds of shows I am quite aware that performers often get help from background musicians, but this is a bit much..In the day and age of pro-tools does she even give an authentic studio performance?

Bowling has had some excellent movies based around it. From King Pin, the Big Lebowski and even Bowling for Columbine..The big 3 American sports, Baseball, Football and basketball have had several duds, but not the almighty bowling!!

Just finished Dave Mustaines' autobiography. Full of great rock n roll cliche stories, but lots of behind the scenes info as well. He talks of line up changes, Metallica,rehab,religion,relationships etc. One of my favorite stories was how he hired a guitar player from a local punk band and after weeks of partying discovered, in the studio, that the guitarist couldn't play!! The guy suggested having his guitar teacher, Chris Young, show him the parts. Chris Young ended up coming in and was eventually hired by Dave Mustaine to join Megadeth and record So Far, So Good, So What..
